Last night I went with my son to see the NCAA Men’s Championship Volleyball match between USC and UC Irvine. What a game! My Dad called and said he had extra tickets so we jumped at the opportunity. The game did not disappoint.
A USC hitter sets up his shot with the setter.
UC Irvine puts up a big 3 man block.
The very nice results of that block. ROOF!
UC Irvine wasn’t always allowed to put up 3… and USC’s #11 punished them with 28 kills on the night.
Wow, look at that reach… the envy of short volleyball players everywhere. Oh, and just in case you were wondering, the setter for UC Irvine is 6’9″… so much for us short people at least being able to set.
USC lifts off for a jump serve. Wow.
UC Irvine goes line and tools the block for a point.
UC Irvine “covers” their hitter. (In preparation for a possible block the players cover key areas on the court to maximize their potential to get the ball back up)
Volleyball is so easy, you can even do it with your eyes closed. This is a fabulous block.
The winning kill in Game 5 by UC Irvine.
