I am kinda bummed about the ToU this year – I only got out to one stage, but the format was one of my favs… the downtown crit. For those of you unaccustomed to cycling, a crit race or criterium is a race held on a short course (5-7km) usually on closed off city streets where riders either race against the clock or to a certain number of laps. The tight turns and speed can make for some of the most exciting cycling to watch.
Rock Racing took the overall best team for this year’s Tour, and it wasn’t hard to see why – they were strong out the front on almost every pass!
Local cycling legend Dave Zabriskie was out in support of his Garmin Felt U23 Team but was riding solo – lots of questions arose because he wasn’t wearing the Garmin Slipstream kit – he showed up on the last day wearing sporty black shorts with a red with white stripe top. Of course, he could have shown up naked, lathered in DZ Nuts and the crowd still would have cheered him on.
The 90 minutes format was grueling, as you can tell from this picture of the sensational rider from local team Canyon Bicycles All-Stars, Chase Pinkam.
It was a great tour, and a great final stage.

Great set, you can really feel the speed on the first picture!
Hey thanks Vanou!
