Zack Arias, the incredible music photographer from Atlanta, Georgia came and spoke to a group of us crazy photography addicts in preparation for PhotoCamp Utah. His remarks were very well received. Create a niche for yourself. If 80% of the room or the industry is moving in one direction, turn around and go the other way – do something different!

I can’t wait for his keynote remarks tomorrow. If you didn’t get a chance to get a ticket to PhotoCamp Utah, the event will be live streamed on Ustream at 3:30 MST. If you are at Photocamp, come by and say HI – I will be hosting the events upstairs in room 4 all afternoon.

It started out only raining, and while friends on twitter were talking about snowballs falling from the sky in Salt Lake and other areas in Utah… it was just a slight drizzle down in Spanish Fork.

Then at about 3:00 it started. And it snow all night long. Which means waking up early, to go out with the camera.

I think my dismay at the snow (I want to ride my bike!) is somewhat reflected in the (albeit rather gloomy) mood of the photos.

10:00am – 12:00noon Set building, talent styling, gear rundown

12:00noon – 3:00pm Full shooting mode, lots of options, experimenting

3:00 – 3:30pm Brent Amaker and the Rodeo perform a short set, cocktails

4:00 – 5:00pm Miscellaneous additional shooting, interviews

5:00 – 6:00pm Set strike/breakdown, interviews

6:00pm Off the air

What a fantastic opportunity to see how one of the best in the business does it. I am clearing my schedule now…
