Nice, I did something similar the other day, dug up the first digital SLR pics I ever took (it was pretty silly... I'd had one semester of photo 101 learning photography and bought a Canon 5D to take with me on a trip... and then didn't pick it back up after the trip, sold it a few months later. Glad I finally got back into it.)

I'm a little jealous that you got to roam around SLR in hand in Japan. I served a mission in Korea right before digital cameras started to be available to the mainstream (98-2000) and I would have *loved* one then. Haven't been back since...

Cheers to new focus and plans! I had this same sort of revelation last year, noting that my favorite (and professional-looking photogs) seem to do a few things and do them very well. What I figured out was that when I diluted my portfolios, they were not as strong, so I set out to be much tougher in my selections. Sometimes it's really hard, and takes more time, but I think it has been worth it. You have such talent in the areas you are talking about, that I am sure it will all pay off for you, too.

Well thank you for the kind comments... something about shooting a wedding scares me to death - I don't know if it is the expectations or the mother-in-laws, but it just gives me the creeps. I am glad to hear your husband picked up the camera again - For right now I am just having fun and learning... but I am going to start to pick up a few commercial jobs here and there, but mainly just so I can upgrade my gear and buy more lenses!

Does your husband post any of his work on your blog? I would love to see it.

Take care.

So I'm curious. Is it your ultimate goal to do this as your profession? Or do you prefer to keep it informal. I ask because you are so good, I can certainly imagine it being commercially viable. My husband tried to turn his photography into a wedding and portrait business several years ago. Result: he put the camera down and didn't pick it up for a few years. But now he's found his love of it again and is out all the time capturing beauty. But weddings and portraits? I doubt he'll ever try that again.
