behind the crooked fence

I have some pretty amazing in-laws. My wife’s family has an alpaca farm down in Mona and I have been helping them with photography and designing their website – Crooked Fence Alpacas and Mill – let me say it has been an education. Alpacas are amazing animals – and their fleece is absolutely incredible! The new website is up – but I am still ironing out all the issues and working on content. I would love any feedback on the design, layout and ease of navigation etc. I wanted to keep it simple and clean, and mainly focus on their three services – the animals, the mill, the country comfys dry goods.

  1. These guys are SO very cute and photogenic. Nice work. I like the simple design of the site – you can’t get lost which is really very nice.

I have two suggestions. First, on the About page, you say “call or email for more info” but I didn’t see a phone # anywhere, just the email address.

My other suggestion would be for the front page. I like that by clicking one of three images you are taken to one of three services/aspects. I think, however, that the two photos with yarn might not be as clear as it could be. I might take out the image of the yarn in the basket and replace it with one of actual products…hats or whatever. I know the full catalogue isn’t up and you might just be waiting on an image or it might be a cropping issue, but I think that would make it as clear as it could be.

Overall nice work and what a fun project it must have been to photo the alpacas. Too cute!

Victoria – thanks for the great input! I have replaced the image of the yarn basket on front with one of my daughter in a country comfys hat and scarf, and finally updated the contact forms on the other pages – it was misleading – I just hadn’t found a contact form that was clean and simple that I liked yet.

Shooting the alpacas is a lot of fun – and the kids love going down and playing with them – especially when we have new babies!

    Thanks again for the input!
